Summer 2014

Our Summer 2014 issue (on sale June 10) is filled with over 13 fresh colorful projects, from bed sized quilts to wall décor, that will brighten your home. Lavender Fields, designed by Patti Carey, is one that can be displayed on a wall or used as a throw. Patti is a creative pattern designer and skilled machine quilter, and our featured artist. The trendy delicious colors in Gelato make this a fun quilt to piece and display, much like Ophelia, which features sunny Dresden Plate motifs appliquéd onto a luxurious damask background. Check out some of the beach-themed projects. From the whimsical, Cooling Off, to soft and sophisticated, Drifting, you'll find a variety of seascape and summer vacation designs. Don’t miss the fun smaller projects you can stitch up in a weekend, a sampling of some of the latest fabrics currently available, and various ways to get involved with online quilt swaps in the social media feature.
In our spring issue (#41) on page 27, the names under the photos of Henry Khalilian and Rich Bolog,
both of EBI Fabrics, were listed incorrectly. Please note the correct listing to the right.

Book Giveaway!

Hexagonsare one of the mostpopular quilting patterns. As quilt artist Mickey Depre says, "These simple designs are like potato chips—you start with one and you just can't stop!" Learn a contemporary twist on a classic technique with two books by Mickey Depre: Pieced Hexies: A New Tradition in English Paper Piecing and Pieced Hexies Deux: 10 New Designs to Rock Your Quilts (The Kansas City Star Co., 2012 and 2014, respectively). Together, these books include more than 17 innovative quilt patterns. Also included is the book, Ring Around the Hexies: A Collaboration Celebration, by Bonnie K. Hunter and Mickey Depre (The Kansas City Star Co., 2013), complete with a Ring Around the Hexies Acrylic Boomer template. This book combines Bonnie's passion for scrappy quilts with Mickey's vibrant hexagon designs.
